and then we were like yeah. let's go to france.

this is an attempt to get back into blogging.
(read: i'm once again single and now have time for this thing so
let's raise our hands together and say YES)

so back in july i visited christine and paul because they were living in germany for a few months and who wouldn't want a random friend coming to stay with you for ten days of it!? Obviously not them.

the morning after my arrival we jumped in a rental car and road tripped down to the south of france for some tour de france. christine wrote a detailed post about all of that but we all know i was just there to take pretty pictures and have no idea what i was actually watching.

look at that happy girl watching them cross the finish line!  they are cycling lovers 4 lyfe and it was fun to see them so happy to see their favorite thing in, as they say, the flesh.

it was raining super hard so the photos of this portion are full of lots of umbrellas.  look at that happy guy!

while they were going crazy over all their best cycling friends, i was just L O V I N G this beautiful mountain town with it's magical fog and greenest of green everything.

by the time we got to our hotel (that cute yellow guy above!) the sky had cleared and it was just the best.  christine really nailed it with this random tiny town, it was so beautiful! we had the best room with the best view and ate a delicious dinner that included mashed potatoes in the shape of a pear!  i'm not really sure how it can get much better than that.

even though it was so tiny it had a massive cemetery which is a thing we both oddly love.
(i have a feeling it's an east coast thing.  it's hard not to fall in love with all the cemeteries because they are so old and interesting and mostly beautiful)

major self-timer win going on above

 (insert heart eyes emoji here)

selfies with giant cameras are hard but it needed to happen.

the photos above and below represent the 100 other photos i tried taking out the window while we drove from place to place because everything in the south of france is exactly what you would think it would be - incredibly, incredibly picturesque and pretty pretty pretty.

i had my heart set on going to a town called colmar.  a friend had recommended it and i fell in love with the google image page i frequented before my trip and it was only about 30 minutes from the tour!  so we made a quick stop and even though it was charming and really great looking - i loved everything else so much more because it was all a big surprise where this looked exactly how i thought it would!  funny how that happens.

just a candid pic of paul and i and some trees in giant pots

(this picture mostly happened for the man dressed in the american flag behind us)

i saw a path leading up one of the mountains nearby and just really wanted to have an aerial view of yet another perfect city.  it did not disappoint.

right??

and then all of the sudden the race was happening so i had to stay up there.
then a series of creeping the elderly photos happened because apparently that is my thing.

and then all of the sudden we were back on the road looking at castles and vineyards and green pastures alllll the way back to germany.  i felt highly satisfied with this little roadtrip and could have left europe that day and felt good about it.  all three of us just felt genuinely happy and content the whole trip which is always a special thing.  those little baby towns and french mountains lifted our hearts and i'm grateful they didn't mind me tagging along.  it definitely goes down in the history of my life as one of the best weekend trips i've ever done!
(and i've had some pretttttty good ones so that is a little meaningful)

7.09.2014

..so it's been a year.

well hello again!
(is it fun that my body and that dress are the same color?)

so here we are.  a year since my last post.
i realized it had been exactly a year when i went to show someone a photo from my blog today and thought it might be cute to post since i'm sentimental like that.

i feel like i have so many things to say! and i feel sad i let this blog die.  it turns out that when you can't blog at work and you stop dating someone who is out of town all the time (and make friends and have a life yadda yadda) you suddenly don't have time to do it.  well i can't speak for anyone else so i suddenly didn't have time anymore, or i stopped making the time rather. i'm bummed that i don't have all the jokes and stories and pictures neatly placed in one spot for the past year but i'm happy that i was busy living (or being lazy) so that makes me feel slightly better.

a lot has happened in this year! i've experienced a whole range of emotions from being the most content and blissful megan there ever was to feeling like my heart was going to explode with sadness and all the things in between.  i've dated three people seriously (LOL), taken on more responsibility at work, learned to play the piano (and then forgot how to play the piano),  found some of the best friends a girl could ask for, discovered mens xs t-shirts at urban that fit like magic, got sick of pad thai, bought way too many dresses, became a victim of bike theft, went on countless weekend trips, read almost three books that were (!) non-church related, got horse lights for my room, was a pretend mom (again) for a week, ran my first few 5ks, started a 401k, dabbled in wedding photography, chopped my hair off for the first time 13 YEARS, hit utah up a few times, became a really good skinny dipper, finally went to san francisco, ate my body weight in ice cream/discovered how wonderful ben&jerry's is,  SAW WICKED (ten years late), became a temple worker, learned how to snowboard, was successful at attending grand illumination night, turned 27, and put on 5lbs after being the same weight for years and lot of other things since a year is kind of a long time.

so yeah.  i'd say it was a mostly successful year with only a few negative things like the slightly larger thighs and the heart exploding with sadness thing.  oh! and i just cut my hair again and the layers are the worst so that is negative as well.  but other than that i have little to complain about because through all the things, my God is always good to me.

okay so that is that. i forgot how time consuming this thing is! it's almost 9pm and i have a date with some friends, walden pond, and our nakes (whoops!) so i gotta go.  but i love you and i love this blog and i hope i do a better job of showing love by posting some time before july 9th, 2015.

june weekday haps

thinking about blogging all that happened on the weekends in june is making me feel extremely overwhelmed so we are just going to hold off on those moments for now.

..i wrote that a week ago but hey hiiiii.
june was so nice and went by so fast. here are weekday things that happened slash i liked.

i always love walking by the harvard stadium at this time of day, it always looks super delightful

so many facetime/skype times! taking screen shots makes me feel like we are more than just phone friends. also worth noting: this was my first time facetiming with my old companion sister wang, my friend david grant, and brynne's baby morris!! thank you, technology.

lots of bike rides with myself or kristin

my boss and his two assistants, megan and meg

the bosses are having a baby! slash they already did but it hadn't happened yet in this picture. we gave them a diaper cake, they loved it as you can see.

best 57 year old work friend from texas, john bridwell, brought us back these macaroons from france.
i always thought i hated macaroons but THOSE THINGS WERE SO GOOD. maybe i just hate american ones? who knows.

left:june weather was nuts and one day it was so cold that i wore a sweater, a scarf, and boots. what?
right: also, i've been better at eating lunch at work. see? a little panara with my best mexican friend alberto.

more biking. lots of yoga. super obsession with my new backpack.
(it makes carrying things so easy and convenient!)

boston loves learning. welcome to fred talks: TED talks by your friends.

still obsessed with the location of my church and how green it is

when it wasn't freezing it was raining! for days and days and days
(which i honestly appreciated because summer without central air is THE WORST)

friday afternoons were spent with bff nat and our veteran boyfriends and were always topped off with tons of delicious ice cream from bedford farms. maybe this is a good time to tell you that nat is leaving me and is moving to texas soon. we are very sad about this.

sadly you cant really see the rainbow in the picture above but it is there and i loved that it looked like it was coming out of the word "friendlies" on that building in the distance and there is a baby rainbow on the building across the street.  ..it's the little things.

bless asian friends who make it in the korean newspaper and eating whatever it is i got at that korean restaurant.

unedited boston beauty. this is the trail we use to get to the church, i think
it is especially beautiful after a rainstorm when the sun is setting and felt happy we were walking rather than biking so we could further enjoy it.

amber turned 30! even though she looks 12.

my closet fell down one night - don't worry, i fixed it - and i had utah hair for a minute.

scenic storrow drive

all you can eat ice cream festival with mccall. didn't feel so hot by the time we left but it was definitely worth it (probably)

oh hey! and then the boss had her baby and i photographed the event. this picture was taken at 5 in the morning and i didn't even care because she is the cutest. if you have any "A" names that you think are the best go ahead and throw them out there - she is still nameless a week and a half later haha.
