sigur ros

thank you for helping me stay awake at work.

(and thank you dixie for selling festive disposable hot cups so i can not only drink hot chocolate whenever and wherever i want but i can also look at the cup and feel holiday cheer)

getting up at 4:20 in the a.m. every saturday is great but not when
-i have 2ish hours of sleep in my body
-it is slow
-i'm doing a longer shift than usual
-all i'm talking to is crazy people
i.e. this was said to me a few moments ago - "well i hear that in your book it mentions that to convert to moronism is the equivalent of riding a unicorn down a mountain while drinking from a goblet filled with the laughter of children"
not that i disagree but..what?

anyway, i just wanted to say even after all these years i still love everything about you.

..and if you are reading this please come to america.

proud owner

of these bad boys.
a little too much too soon but i love them!
this would be my favorite part..
i have wanted footed pajamas since they stopped fitting me 20 years ago so when my roommate kaycie bought some i ran over to target as soon as i could to pick up my own pair.

this would be proof.
a little roommate breakfast love last wednesday.
(and ahem, we are waiting for everyone else to get on the ball and get their pair.)

i just thought i would share this good news with everyone because i put them on a few moments ago and they just feel like childhood and when i look down i'm so pleased with myself. i hope you all can experience the joy of footed pajamas with pockets if you haven't already. they are a dream come true.

here is another dream come true.

after hating television for months i have finally enjoyed watching something other than the office. ryan borrowed season one from a friend and we have already blown through two of the four discs.
so so funny.

edit.

as i edited some things for my photography class this morning i came across this lovely christmas album.
if you haven't heard it yet, you should check it out.
(i just listened to it on grooveshark if you don't feel like buying it)
it is so so great! definitely saved the morning.

(and whoever put sara and ingrid together for a christmas song is genius!)

back to the photography class, it is a nice time but i'm somewhat retarded at photoshop. i haven't used it for years, hence editing all morning.

but here is what i worked on:

 panorama: before and after
(don't worry it is just 18 photos stitched together..maybe i got a little carried away?)

..this would be my "advertisement" haha.
i don't really think commercial photography is my thing
(especially how the picture i took for this was the sunglasses, not the snowboarders)

anyway..
i hope you enjoy listening (or already do enjoy listening) to that fab christmas alb.
happy friday!

over it.

that is right.
the time (get it) has come.
i was sick of the creepy on the fence girl. i needed to change my template and ran into this lovely gem.
(i know, it probably isn't much better haha)
this is possibly temporary-but i couldn't resist. the colors weren't so depressing and it had my favorite little domo on it that was all the rage in taiwan. when i came back i was told he is sold here as well but he will forever be taiwanese to me. excuse my asian-ness but i even have a domo calendar sitting on my desk right now!

 i'm that hard core.

last week was nice. and i almost took a photo a day.

monday photo: lovin work
tuesday: definitely made ryan go to the mall just so we could stand in this small area on the third floor of macy's, drink hot chocolate, and feel excited for christmas.
wednesday: (more like two fridays ago)
ryan is just rocking the guitar in the band for young ambassadors. and that baby vest!
thursday: (okay two thursdays ago) i saw this robot exercising on the side of the road! really exciting for everyone.
friday: i always hate games but i've decided to give them another go.
phase ten + david's christmas album (still loving it) + ultimate butter popcorn (for him) + kettle corn (for me) + citrus wassail + leggings with christmas socks + nicole (and amelia for a few rounds) = BIG success.
saturday: the carl bloch exhibit at byu.
phenomenal. all of you should go and see his original paintings! once in a life time experience and it is freeeee. we are going to go again when it gets closer to christmas time and i can't wait.
(just don't forget to get tickets at the link above, even though they are free you have to have them)
still saturday: dinner at gloria's. a real magical and quaint little place, i recommend the pollo alla parmigiana.
sunday night : birthday party for annie cakes. you would think it was a wedding with all of brooke's decorating skills. i'm sure there will be more on her blog later.

next week: thanksgiving!!
(don't really know why i feel so excited about it because i've never really cared about thanksgiving. maybe because i haven't had one in two years i bet.)

the gabes.

green gables had a little photo shoot
(still don't really know why it is called that)
it brought back sweet memories of the yellow house shoot we did almost three years ago
flared jeans!
and nice yh moments like this
 ohhh and this
and this? don't actually remember why this is happening but i like it
and as i went through old photos i found this which was just asking to get posted. supersized. haha
but anyway, back to roommate fest- here are a few of the many photos captured by kaycie's sister, krista.
somehow, even when it is random, i have really pretty roommates.

this one below is maybe my favorite.
my literal roommate, amelia
(kind of an awkward picture but we didn't realize we could smile)

single (kind of) ladies. hence, why we live together.

we couldn't pass up the opportunity for this shot considering there are soooo many leaves in our front yard.

this was actually the first time all 6 of us were together since we moved in so it was a special day on all accounts.
(ps krista does all sorts of photography and her pricing is reasonable so you should definitely check her out!)

harroweeeeeeen.

usually i'm not the biggest fan of halloween because a. i've never read where it says you don't have to wear garments on holidays and b. i hate seeing all the pictures of my efy babies on fb being naked because it breaks my heart a little bit. (ok alot)
but i am pleased to announce this weekend was a big hit.
it started off with a little family get together at ty and lisa's (this is the only photo of the event but luckily they are in the picture..kind of). we watched this show and accompanied it with momma jan's carmel/butter popcorn. really out of control movie but a lovely time anyway.
saturday morning was filled with work and cleaning checks..this was my portion and i was so pleased with myself i had to take a photo of it!
we decided to eat at tepanyaki for dinner and it was delicious as usual. this picture is actually from when we went for ryan's birthday so just imagine him in a cowboy outfit (the chef not ryan).
that night we had the privilege of spending some time with
 b and tanner.
we carved (a) pumpkin and watched some halloween gems.
tanner had a great idea of making the pumpkin into a 3d puzzle so we all took turns carving pieces.
..while watching hocus pocus. you can assume from (the half of) tanner's face how enthralling it was
aaand since it was the greatest idea ever we could take pieces out and see the magic happening inside! i couldn't get enough of it. way to go on that one, tanner.
halloween morning we went to sister roper's homecoming slash mission report. she and ry hit it off famously (as i knew they would). sorry we stayed for five hours and ryan had to fall asleep on me for two of them because we couldn't stop talking. love her. (and him for not being mad)
halloween night was spent at the margetts home and the whole fam enjoyed scones (maybe i ate 15?) and hot chocolate.
the night then turned into a spontaneous talent show.
or something like unto it. we tried to all sing together and it was definitely..amusing. love them. and being mormon.
afterwards we we went and hung out with my parents in our kitchen and talked about our day and how crazy the people are i talk to on chat. i love them too.

so basically it was a really great weekend with lots of family time (i consider b and her family in that category too). i was reading this blog post of brynne's while i waited for the pictures to load and i loved everything she wrote about loving life and being in the moment. as i hung out with her and ryan and our families this weekend i just felt so blessed and so happy. i feel grown up in the sense that the things that are most important in life are actually the things that matter most to me. sometimes we get caught up in comparing ourselves to others or wanting what we can't have or forgetting priorities but i'm grateful for times when we can wake up a little bit and realize that we have so much.
