call me MAYbe.

yes i love that song. yes i'm just going to blog the entire month of may in one post . yes i'm just going to blog most of the pictures i instagrammed (plus a few i didn't) that month since those pictures were pretty much the highlights anyway. and yes i just realized i haven't even blogged about my utah trip and that was in may so i guess i'm not blogging all of may and it makes sense now why i had so few pictures aaaand yes i just got overwhelmed.

anyway hi! just doing my part to get all caught up.
when i look at these photos i am blown away that some of you don't know about any of these things, they feel like they happened forever ago! when i returned from dc my boss left a nice surprise on my desk of four chicks that said "please play with the chicks. they need to get used to people" (!!!) i was thrilled about this.

may 5. cinco de mayo.
this day was celebrated with cleaning out a food pantry for a food bank (and finding the best/creepy clown), a going away party thrown for our friend complete with great mexican dishes and a pinata, and a midnight full moon sail on the charles (river). thank you mexican friends for giving us all a random day to celebrate random things and say it is in the name of your victory!

I have felt so sad that all the blossoms are dying but this one house looked like it was raining flowers and instead of feeling sad i felt magical.

aaaaaand then one time my boss brought in two baby gosling to add to our collection of chicks! i was so happy to let them swim around in the sink the few days they were with us (they got too huge to stay very long) and i laughed so hard at everyone's under-their-breath made comments about sanitary because let's be real, i could have cared less about that.

sometimes i see the best little tots on the subway..i am on the subway quite a bit so i felt my time there should be highlighted.

may was way serious about it's rain showers. it rained SO much and all of the streets are pretty uneven so there are huge puddles everywhere when it rains. this is nice for rain boots, but not for the guy standing next to you when you are wearing those rain boots.

one night john and i went for a stroll around the south end and it was a DREAM. the weather was perfect, it was that perfect time of day right before the sun goes down, and the south end is as close to perfect as a neighborhood can get, i think.

we then made our way over to the boston public gardens and the view above made me gasp it was just so pretty. i couldn't stop staring at how great everything looked as the sun set over the pond so we just sat on a bench and watched it until the sun had gone completely down. my only regret of this time was being so mesmerized by the sunset i couldn't bring myself to take a video of the lady doing sensual dance hula-hooping next to us. when i finally went to capture it she was gone! it was such a shame.

later that night i remembered it was eat what you want day and i was SO HAPPY.
a. i was happy there is such a day as eat what you want day
and
b. earlier i had mentioned we were near the north end and we should get a cannoli and john refused saying that we got them too much and we needed to be nicer to our bodies.
BUT
once he knew what day it was he could not resist my whining and eventually we made our way to mike's. we also got pad thai that night, so my eat what you want day was complete.

before grace and dave moved back to new york (tears) we went on a walk together one saturday afternoon. they are enjoying figuring out the whole parenting thing and i enjoy the fact that they are now parents.

our roommate erica got her masters degree! this same erica is crazy talented and is having a MUSICAL SHE WROTE HERSELF performed in nyc next week. more on that later i'm sure.

i made shepherd's pie! and it didn't even taste gross.
even though erica is very talented she is a bit spacey and decided to invite all four single wards to our home for a games night in celebration of all the graduates. unfortunately she didn't think about the part where it was sunday and we would need games and/or snacks for our guests. don't worry though. i pulled through with some microwave popcorn and some month old easter candy. i'm sure everyone who came felt like we were the best hostesses.

that same night we remembered we live by the ocean and decided to take a drive on the coast and stroll the beach. the fact that matt had a jeep with its top down and a PA system made this activity ten times more amusing than it would have been otherwise.

i'm still being the bbq girl, except for some times i get sick of calling it a bbq so for may we had a fiesta instead. it seemed appropriate to wear my fiesta/swiss days/ethnic party outfit and i think it was a success! another success would be forcing the other megan (pictured below) to be my friend (we are both assistants for our boss daniel), for when i first started working with her i'm almost positive she hated my guts.

in may i had this awful habit of falling asleep completely clothed and waking up in the exact position i fell asleep in. this is just a hunch, but maybe i should start going to bed a little earlier?

i'm posting this because 1. i liked the sugar packet cat holder and 2. cheese fries always make me sick but i actually liked these ones! it was the raspberry chipotle sauce that did it for me i think.

at work we have a dalmation dog named basie. i think it is a boy but i always feel confused because his name makes him sound like a girl. also worth noting, one of my co-worker's child had some mad sidewalk chalk skills and drew this piece of art - "light up the world with your dragonfire".
..i think if we all took that advice to heart the world would be a better place.

two things i liked alot -
this way cool sunbeam sunset and baby alta. i didn't realize this was the last time i would see that little gal before they moved! i need to go to nyc soon so i can love on her again. those cheeks!

the best find of may would definitely be this hidden magical forest next to the temple. on the left side of the temple is a freeway and on the right side is this piece of magic, who knew?!

to close i would like to share this picture/story.
boy in the suit definitely came up to me at church and asked me if i had been on a mission. i said yes. were you in the mtc in the fall of 2008? i said yes. his response - "i was in the mtc at that time too! the elders in my district and i thought you were totally hot but we couldn't flirt with you so instead we asked you to take our picture and you did. and then you turned the camera around and took a picture of yourself before handing it back. we loved that picture."
yikes.
..i definitely did not remember this story (yet at the same time i could see myself doing that so i'm sure it is true) but appreciated his willingness to seem like a total creep and approach me randomly. i just have to say this to him though, never again tell a story about your time in the mtc with the words "hot" and "flirt" in it. reeeeally poor move on your part.

and now i guess we begin the one million utah pictures! yee-haw.

3.08.2012

so i moved again. but before i moved these things happened.

oh hey hi! for some reason multiple people have thought i died this past week so i guess it is time to blog and tell the world wide web that i am alive!

my last post discussed how i just moved for the third time (you probably didn't read it because it was a lot of words, i don't blame you) so now I live about five minutes from the Harvard Business School which is kind of neat. but before i moved some nice things occurred. one of them being my brother helping my parents facetime on their ipad! and then the same brother going over to my sister's house and being able to facetime with them via his iphone. i hadn't seen any of these cuties since i moved to boston and it was a very welcomed reunion.

did i mention that my roommates love to cook? i realized i would be moving soon so i began helping them and asking lots of questions because roommate kenzie doesn't use recipes but everything always tastes great and it blows my mind. on this particular day i was brave and made chicken tikki marsala while kenzie made homemade ravioli, homemade sauce, and homemade artisan bread. why wasn't i doing those things when i was 19? or 24?

i'm pleased to announce that everything was delicious and i made her tell me how she made that meal so if i'm ever feeling overzealous i can (try to) recreate it.

our ward did a little priesthood appreciation night and someone thought it would be a good idea to have karaoke at the end to you know, lighten the mood. well. all of the sudden this dear friend stood up and not only decided to sing "sexual healing" but also felt it was appropriate to give a speech along with it about how we all have sexual tension and we just need to let it out. i. was. dying!and perhaps i recorded it because it was just that awful/awesome.

i decided to sleep over at new friends mccall and pam's house. we watched the sisterhood of the traveling pants 2 and i felt so happy about it. there is just something about watching awful chick flicks with nice friends that will always fill me with satisfaction.

parking in boston is a bit rough so at times you have to park a mile or two away from where you are going. this happened to occur during a downpour but i had an umbrella so i felt fine.

here is why people (young single adult lds people) are cool in boston.  most of them have no inhibitions and they will attend something like a cotillion and actually dance and even a few dressed appropriately for the occasion. i feel bad that i initially went because i thought it would be amusing (which it still was) because i ended up dancing the entire time and learning some sweet new 1800's moves! i feel that activity would have bombed in provo and that kind of makes me sad.

i tried so hard to understand why this was happening

and i never could but i liked it a lot.

a girl in my ward informed me a church nearby has a thrift store so i decided to check it out and found the cutest dog willow! i'm really not a dog person to be 100% honest but for some reason i LOVED this dog. so fat and fluffy and mellow. sadly the woman who owned him didn't know what mix he was because she got him from a shelter. my one chance at finding a dog i would want to own has been blown!

afterwards i walked over to check out urban's books because they never fail to entertain

and i found a folder i could use for the february photo a day challenge. the challenge that day was "green" and i think these cats pretty much some up how i felt about the prompts each day. maybe i'll end up posting my photos for it? but maybe not.

so as i've previous mentioned i was always way against smart phones and never owned one until i moved out here. i still think you can get by without one BUT i am always grateful for it in moments like above when you are driving to walmart and as you look at your maps app you see you are right by the ocean!

so you jump out of the car and love the crap out of it for a few moments.
then you spend a lot of money at walmart on things you need for your new place because it is unfurnished which, as our saynotocosmo friend would say, gives you the sads.

the night before i left brenna was really sweet and helped me alter some shirts that were just a liiittle too big for my body. i really need to get my domestic on and learn how to do these things myself!

the day i left i had an interview so instead of taking the bus to the subway station i decided to walk through the cemetery.

and then coming home i did the same for the last time which was sad :(
(but i really liked this cute old man (kind of) walking alongside me which made me feel better)

bye bye baby room and fake mattress.

thanks grace for always saving the day. and is anyone else wondering how i have so much crap? i swear i came over with just three suitcases..

and bye roommates. i appreciated that you were so good at all the things i'm not. sometimes i wish you didn't already forget that i ever lived with you and sometimes even forgot that when i still lived there haha but it is okay! because i love you anyway and i enjoyed our time together. and brenna - i enjoyed that chocolate chip cookie dough you made for me right before i left, especially how you left out the chocolate chips because i hate them.
