sisters weekend : day five

look at me just cranking these posts out like its nobody's business!

so it turns out the way you heat homes on the east is different than on the west and there are these oil tanks or gas tanks or something that you have to fill up and maybe ours was empty in my house hence the freezingness and sadness of sisters? so my roommate called sunday night to inform me it was completely empty so there was no heat and they could see their breath in the house so it might be a good idea to not come home haha. they were all thrilled to spend another night in a heated home so instead we just got up bright and early and took the commuter rail back to my house.

wiiiiiith all of our stuff haha. we looked pretty awesome on that commuter rail. oh and then subway. and then bus. (doesn't coming to visit me sound fun?)

after miraculously getting back to my house, packing up everything, and getting to grace and dave's before 9:45 to drop their luggage off i took them to my favorite cambridge commons park!
and it was a little bit colder today than the other days if you couldn't tell..

then i took them to the public library and back to that cute store with the carol burnett lady because becky couldn't stop thinking about vera bradley.

then these troopers took their very last subway ride.

and we ate at another triple d stop, mr. bartley's

i don't even really like hamburgers but i got that one on the right and almost ate all of it and didn't feel too sick afterwards! don't know if it was quite worth the hype but just their menu alone was amusing enough for me to want to go back

then i tried to get a picture with the four of us in it.
tricia was very diligent with her facebook check-ins, as i have mentioned before and as some of you probably saw on your newsfeed. i would say that face is a mix of the sollis scowl and some serious concentration. i could also say a lot of other things since she admitted to not ever reading anything i write on this blog but rather just looks at the pictures buuuut i'll refrain.

we went to the harvard coop where we found a book on tricia's new favorite topic, a book that i could see my dad writing, and this man that was passed out and wouldn't even wake up when the lady who worked there started banging on the table and saying "sir! sir! SIR WAKE UP".

and after that eventful stop the trip was concluded with a quick look around harvard campus.

and luckily grace was flying in as they were flying out so dave was nice and not only gave us a ride to the airport but took one last sister picture before we said goodbye.

it was so fun having my sisters come out! it was really weird to become a tour guide after being here just a few short weeks but it was some good practice for next time when the other three come! and my parents of course. and really anyone else that wants to come be my friend. go boston!

sisters weekend : day four

it turns out going to cape cod on sunday sounded way better than going to my singles ward so we all headed to jay and mhari's house and took over their kids bunk beds for a halifax city sleepover

the next morning we jumped in the car and drove to a little town named brewster on the cape and attended church at their tiny branch. they were the sweetest people and even had a great lunch afterwards for everyone! we were all fed spiritually and physically and met some of the best people. one of them being that lady in the picture above, i'm happy having a phone that takes decent pictures has allowed me to creep people even better than in the past and even more discreetly! that is really all i wanted.

we drove back on the 6a and i tried to take pictures of all the nice things we passed but i failed.

we went to look at the home jay and mhari are trying to maybe buy and decided to take a picture in front of it. we look really comfortable and not cold at all don't you think?

then went back to the cape to check out the beach for a minute and it was like twenty degrees colder i'm pretty sure. we stood there long enough for a few pictures to be taken and then ran back to the car

it was so nice to see a real looking beach, it helped me remember i really do live on the coast

that night was spent finding out they have smartfood popcorn in a snack bag size, eating a delicious dinner with the best corn bread and homemade honey butter i've ever had, and being serenaded by their twins trumpet skills

then we discussed how great it is to be together and how it never happens..all the while being completely preoccupied with electronics. i wonder if our ancestors feel sorry for us haha.

sisters weekend : day three

turns out everyone lived through the night and didn't freeze to death. hooray! remember my post north end nice end? well i liked that day and i tried my best to recreate it for the sisters. mindy's bffs came up to spend the day with us so we all headed to little italy together. it was supposed to snow and be really cold that day but it really wasn't that bad and only rained - which made little italy look so dreamy and nice!

we ate at la famiglia which was family style and delicious. i don't know what happened to this picture but their faces and cameras make me laugh every time i look at it.
"i never took pictures of food until i joined this family" - mindy, sister-in-law

next stop was mike's pastry, a tourist favorite. locals aren't all that jazzed over it but somehow the word got out about mike's so every tourist ever somehow crams themselves in there to get some of his treats. mindy could not be happier with this moment because who doesn't want to feel like they are on cake boss?

none of us had ever eaten a cannoli before so we all got our own and the vote was unanimous. two thumbs way up for those guys.

after going into a sugar coma we walked around and found paul revere and the north church and midget doors

then another cemetery

and then headed over to the holocaust memorial, which is something i might take everyone who visits me out here to see

i felt so happy to see these bag pipers playing in a little parade they made of themselves and then in a matter of minutes felt so sad to see these girls ruin colored skinnies for everyone

boston baked beans! i didn't even put that together until that moment.
we walked around quincy market and jay got tired.

so eventually we went to no name to get some seafood and felt how cheers looked in the sitcom, just so eighties and so..i can't even explain it. i just did not feel like i was in 2012 but we had a great time. mindy and tricia got their very own lobsters which was a really exciting moment obviously and then the rest of us thoroughly enjoyed watching them pull the lobsters a part and eat them.

and our waiter had the funniest polygamy jokes and gave us such a nice speech about having good friends and appreciating them. look at their faces, those were not posed people. the love for our friend in the yellow was real. was his name patrick? i feel sad i can't remember.
then we had to end the night with another round of toscanini's ice cream which was torture for jay because that meant we passed mary chung's chinese food restaurant which jay is obsessed with and couldn't stop talking about the entire day

and here we are with our third and final ice cream treats. i'm really only putting this awful picture to showcase our sister tricia. that pink hat and neck warmer combo were really the highlight of the trip.
