california: if you went on a walk with me you would have seen these things part dos

so to continue from my last post i walked back to frei fam, checked in, changed my camera battery, took more pictures of seagulls, grabbed a blow pop, and once again i was on my way.

i loved this!
and i was excited to see this vintage clothing store!
but alas, it was awful. really expensive things that were really gross. it was sad!
nice surfer guy who told me how to get to the canals also told me there was a flea market type thing so i went to find it.
instead i think i found the venice boardwalk? i googled it later and i'm pretty positive that is where i was. and maybe that is what he was actually talking about? i don't know. as soon as i started walking through the crowd i immediately felt self-conscious that i was this little white girl from utah carrying my digital slr and probably doing a poor job of hiding how nervous i felt because nearly everyone on that boardwalk was super shady. i wanted to turn back but didn't allow myself so i tried to look confident and not scared of everyone and kept walking.
i liked seeing these guys break dance because it distracted me from feeling stressed. well. until they started going around to each person and saying "will you give me ten dollars? not one dollar. not five dollars. but TEN DOLLARS? WILL YOU DO THIS FOR YOUR BROTHA?" and i got stressed all over again.

finally i got through the most shady part and got to look at all the interesting things people were selling.
i'm still really sad i didn't get some of these. look at the piggy bank ones!
(i hated just saying piggy bank but really there is no other way to say it without sounding even more dumb)

this was so uncomfortable!

this really has nothing to do with this picture but everyone was looooving marijuana.
seriously. love-ing-it.

at this point maddi had texted me saying they were about ready to go so i headed back.
i almost bought a few things and debated on going back to get them but i couldn't bring myself to do it.
there was no way i was walking back the way i came.
so i headed to the shore and walked back that way. and i'm grateful the boardwalk was so scary so i would think to do this because it was so pretty! such a great sky (which i feel is rare? usually when i go to the beach it is gray gray gray) and great waves crashing over the rocks and great sand for bare feet.
 i loved it.
this is the point where i saw this guy who decided to roll around like a beached whale while fully clothed. it was uncomfortable for everyone.
and the hula hoop girl who was being filmed. what?
and this future beach bum

and so many great treasures like this star fish!
and by starfish i mean sand dollar. i swear i know what they are called.
and don't worry that it took me like 45 minutes to walk back..i didn't realize i had walked so far away haha. by the time i came back the sky decided to hate everything and look like this so we left at the perfect time.

thanks venice beach/canals/boardwalk for such a
  nice, adventurous afternoon!
