traumography

so once ryan and i were watching the saturday morning session of conference (which was the one time i have ever not hated my parents 3d television) and i got a phone call from my sister. my brother-in-law had been riding his bike and was hit by a car. we immediately jumped up, i threw on some clothes other than p.j.s, and headed down to utah valley hospital with said sister.

luckily we were still able to watch conference on the way :)

another lucky thing is that my brother was okay besides a hairline fracture and some really bad road rash and bruises. the muscles in his arm did have a slight chance of dying (what?) so he stayed over night to make sure that didn't happen. and don't let that smile fool you, he was in a lot of pain.

doing anything is super painful for him but we are so grateful he is okay! we are all too familiar with what could have happened and so grateful it wasn't the alternative.

we were also grateful for the moments of comic relief

like when kim asked scott if he needed anything and then suggested taking her shirt off for him in the picture above.

apparently it would be more accurate to say scott hit a car. the car was parked and the person inside opened the door right as he was passing by it and scott ran into it going thirty mph. scott. not the car. his shoulder got most of the impact since he was riding a road bike..which explains the hairline fracture.

while taking these pictures i realized no one is really into photographing traumatic events. we discussed this and how maybe i should pave the way and start doing a little..dare i say..traumography?

it is worth thinking about.

we went get some food for him and when we came back he had moved rooms and spirits were a little higher with all those pain meds in his body  his wife and siblings to keep him company
